purpose

We have been given the opportunity to work on the Smith Family house and to design an addition to their house originally designed by architect Richard Meier. We were specifically requested to respect the integrity of the original design but to design an addition that has its own flow while feeling like it is one with the original house . We are required to add a new master suite, family room and formal outdoor area.

narrative

Bill Nye and his family  lives in the Smith house, which is located in Connecticut, on the water of the Long Island Sound .  As a wealthy scientist, he is finally becoming aware of the effect his decisions have on the environment. He hopes to transform his home to be centered around an environmental  friendly concept, which begins with a large outdoor space and a very open concept main floor. He hopes to be able to bring the beauty and calmness of nature from the outdoors into his home. In the center of the backyard landscape, there is a large and beautiful ocean that contributes greatly to the backyard. Bill nye would love to include this tree in the design of his outdoor space
